Kaelyn's Korner

Winter

On Saturday, I went out with a couple of friends to a few bookstores and had tea with them.

While I was driving, I began to notice the rain becoming slush.

About mid-afternoon, I headed home to my husband Brad for a frozen pizza dinner with frozen wings, and we watched “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

Birthday

I am so very blessed!

After working 40 hours in four days last week, Brad and I enjoyed a relaxing Friday together.

He gave me a beautiful necklace and made reservations to The Melting Pot.

December

December is one of my favorite months.

It’s true that my birthday is in this month, but there are many reasons to treasure this bright and delightful month.

Lights decorate trees, homes, businesses and more.

Thankful

I have so many reasons to be thankful.

My handsome husband Brad loves the Lord, me and others, so I give thanks to the Lord God Almighty, who is and who was and who is to come.

Both of our parents live nearby for us to visit them on a regular basis, so I give thanks to the Everlasting Father.

Giving

We are in the season of giving.

Brad and I are gathering lists for what our family members would like for Christmas even as we prepare for Thanksgiving.

At Thanksgiving, we give thanks for the many blessings we’ve received.

Voting

Brad and I voted together for the first time yesterday.

We drove separately in order to leave directly from the nearby middle school to head to work.

Brad followed me to the school.

We arrived around quarter of 7 a.m., and four others had already gotten there ahead of us.

Inside, we waited.

Gatherings

Fall can be a very busy time of the year with many gatherings.

This past weekend, Brad and I enjoyed the cold, rainy Friday together before two full days with family and friends.

Saturday, we spent the day with my family.

We ate breakfast and watched my younger brother, older sister and dad open birthday gifts.

Shuttle

Friday morning, I boarded a bus at the Cannon Center with others headed to the Greer Inland Port.

The South Carolina Ports Authority was celebrating the five-year anniversary of the port coming to Greer.

On the way, the bus stalled as we approached J. Verne Smith Parkway.

The driver started the bus again.

Money

Most of us work for money to buy what we need or want.

Money is important in our economy for putting food on the table, providing shelter over our heads and obtaining clothes to wear.

Despite or perhaps because of this need, money is often the root of corruption.

Camping

This past weekend, Brad and I went tent camping at Lake Keowee.

We left Friday afternoon, set up camp, followed the trail to the lake, took a dip, ate BBQ chicken sandwiches and roasted marshmallows for s’mores.

The next morning, we made breakfast with Brad’s three-burner camping stove.
