Encouraged

Brad and I remembered the Lord’s Supper with our church this past Sunday.

Every fifth Sunday, the service format changes.

Instead of a morning message, we alternate singing, listening to Scripture, sharing testimonies and taking the bread and the drink.

Reflecting on Jesus’ example is always encouraging to me.

Character

A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold,” says Proverbs 22:1.

A person’s character is important.

We can learn a lot about a person by what they say and what they do while a single word from someone else can make us question what we’ve learned.

Community

As Hurricane Florence cancelled plans, Brad and I had a restful weekend.

We spent time together eating meals, playing games, watching Blue Bloods, visiting our parents and chatting with friends.

The worst we experienced was some wind and light rain.

Hurricanes

Hurricanes are dangerous in their unpredictability.

We know Hurricane Florence is probably going to hit South Carolina this weekend, but a slight shift could change the extent of the impact to our area.

Knowing when to take action can be difficult to determine.

Labor Day

A labor of love is what my husband Brad did on Labor Day.

Both of us had the day off from work with no plans, so when a brother in Christ asked for help, Brad readily volunteered his services after asking me.

This brother has been working on an addition to his house.

Autumn

Kaelyn Cashman's picture

Autumn is a beautiful time of year.

I love when the temperatures start to drop with cool mornings bringing relief from the heat of summer.

This change of season is one of my favorites.

Cool weather kindles thoughts of bonfires, apples, hikes, pumpkin spice and holidays.

Traffic

Traffic is one of the top concerns I hear at council meetings.

With the return of school, traffic has increased in certain areas, especially near education facilities and during rush hour.

I have seen the impact on my route.

Biltmore

I’d never been to the Biltmore before last week.

A friend from church invited me to attend a concert with her, so I got off work a bit early last Thursday.

She picked me up a little after 4:30 p.m.

We hit some traffic on the way to Asheville; therefore, we got dinner to go and ate in the car when we parked.

Teachers

Teachers are planning for the new school year, less than two weeks away now.

With my mom and college roommate in the classroom as well as others I know, I have a soft spot for good teachers.

I considered the profession as I enjoyed school.

Vacation

I love the beach.

Walking on the sand, feeling the wind and playing in the waves are my favorite parts of any beach trip.

This past week, Brad and I enjoyed our vacation to Cocoa Beach, Florida.

On the way down, we ate breakfast with one of Brad’s cousins and her family.
