Kaelyn's Korner

Weekends

Weekends continue to fill up with date nights, fellowship and family.

Brad and I reserve Friday nights for our date night where we can relax together with dinner and a movie.

Saturdays, we generally spend time with family or friends.

America’s Pastor

As most of us have heard by now, Billy Graham passed away last Wednesday at the age of 99.

His legacy from 1918 to 2018 is one of faithfulness in living out what he preached.

Seeing anyone live out their faith until the day of their death gives me hope in my own walk with Jesus Christ.

Death

Losing a loved one is heart breaking.

While my own personal interactions with death have been limited, it is a reality everyone is bound to face sooner or later.

Students in schools these days seem to be facing that reality sooner.

Ice skating

Figure skating has always been my favorite winter olympic sport.

As the skaters glide across the ice, beauty and grace flow from every movement.

Watching how the skaters match their movements to the pace of the music is one of the best parts.

Growing up, I enjoyed the movie “Ice Princess.”

Super Bowl

I have stayed away from discussing pro football because I dislike controversy.

But with Sunday night’s outcome, maybe you will hear me out even though my family cheers for the New England Patriots.

My family moved down from Vermont, and we have been fans since before they became champions.

Choices

Life is full of choices from big ones to little ones.

Our circumstances often dictate what choices we’re given, but we can also impact our circumstances through the choices we make.

Two of the major determining factors are time and money.

Snow day

Kaelyn Cashman's picture

Snow days are beautiful gifts of time with loved ones.

Last Wednesday, while the roads whitened with the falling snow, my husband Brad and I enjoyed the additional time to rest as well as play in the snow.

We threw snowballs at each other and took a long walk together.

Meetings

As a reporter, I attend many meetings.

Council meetings make up most of the meetings I attend, but sometimes I get invited to others.

Last week, I received the opportunity to share with Leadership Greer Class 38.

I was given the subject of “gaining community support,” and I jotted down a few notes to share.

Building

We can build, but we cannot create.

My husband Brad is a carpenter, and he works with his hands on the job to build fences, frame walls and work on trim.

He is a part of a team of builders.

Together, they build garages, homes and additions, but they cannot create because creating involves making something out of nothing.

Fresh start

Kaelyn Cashman's picture

One of my favorite aspects of a new year is the fresh start.

A new beginning offers chances to start out on the right foot, to make lasting changes and to refocus on what matters most.

For those who believe, we get a fresh start every single day.
