Car repairs

I appreciate a car that works and gets me where I need to go.

Over the past few years, I have grown attached to my Mazda 626, and I have come to rely on that car.

But cars, especially older ones, often break down.

A deadly mass shooting rocked the nation last Sunday night in Las Vegas.

With more than 50 dead and around 500 injured, the people of the United States are seeking answers.

This tragedy followed three devastating hurricanes: Harvey, Irma and Maria.

Executive session

Executive session is an interesting waiting game.

Last Tuesday night, as 15 of us began the wait, the quietness of the Greer council chambers felt almost tangible.

Someone shuffled papers while many browsed phones.

Storytelling is an integral part of the human experience. We learn a lot about ourselves and others by the stories we tell, read, listen to, watch and believe.

Staying healthy has many benefits.

I enjoy being able to walk where I want to go, to run around with children and to be flexible.

But it is getting harder to stay the same size.

With the recent hurricane activity, my husband Brad and I have been sharing our own hurricane experiences with each other.

Brad and his family are from south Florida, near Miami.

He has experienced many, many hurricanes from category one to category five.

These manifestations of power come from a source other than ourselves.

Good teachers make a real difference in the world.

While they may never see the full results of their tireless efforts, they may catch a glimpse every once in a while.

My mom is an excellent teacher–one of the best.

Of course, I am biased because she is my mom, but she has gained more than 20 years of experience.
