Entertainment

Entertainment is a part of everyday life.

When I use the word entertainment, I tend to think about movies, computer games and television.

But, entertainment can be any number of ways to relax.

Brad and I discussed the topic over the weekend and debated the pros and cons of down time or personal time.

Hosting

Recently, I had the opportunity to open my home to some ladies from church.

At New Covenant Christian Fellowship, we have accountability groups that meet once a month to catch up, pray together and be there for one another.

Car hunting

Some things are easily taken for granted until something goes wrong.

Cars are basically an essential here in the United States, unlike many places around the world where public transportation is more readily available.

When a car is running well, gas and oil are the main concerns.

Beach

My husband Brad’s birthday was this past Friday.

We drove to the Isle of Palms to celebrate with a trip to the beach, where we enjoyed being near the ocean.

At the beach, all five scenes are easily engaged.

Summer

Summer has definitely arrived.

With the recent 90 degree weather and the Fourth of July holiday last week, summer is in full swing.

Schedules become more flexible with school not in session.

As a result, many families travel to visit relatives, take vacations or just get away from the daily grind of everyday life.

Harvest

Growing up, my family had a garden whenever we could.

My parents, who are currently out of the country, have continued to plant a garden each year, and Brad and I have been able to help them harvest.

We gathered together with my older sister and her family the other weekend.

Independence

Nowadays, we celebrate our independence with fireworks.

Many of us gather together with family and friends to honor those who fight to keep our nation free and to share in community.

This community did not come easily.

Salt

Cooking is an art.

My husband Brad, who attended culinary school for a time, has been teaching me the value of different spices.

I am learning a lot.

Some spices partner well together, such as Rosemary and Thyme as well as Basil and Oregano.

They complement each other.

Sick

I had heard about sickness going around the area.

Then, my husband Brad came down with the cold over a week ago, and I caught the cold on Thursday.

As with most colds for me, the soar throat hit first along with a fever.

Graduation

Graduation is a pinnacle point in the journey of life.

One of my most vivid memories of my senior year at North Greenville University came the day I finished my senior presentation.

When I walked out of the building, I felt surreal.
