Kaelyn's Korner

Sacrifice

Many of us spent the weekend resting and spending time with family.

Memorial Day honors the service men and women who gave their lives for that very freedom.

My husband Brad and I went to the Greenville Scottish Games at Furman on Saturday.

We arrived in time to get a good seat for the Military Tribute.

Julie

You don’t know what you have until it is gone.

Many times, we take people for granted when they are a constant presence in our lives.

My dear friend and coworker, Julie, went on vacation last week.

I’m glad she had a chance to get away to Charleston with her husband Scott, but we missed her here at the office.

Seasons

I have a new favorite game.
It’s called Seasons, and it’s long and complicated—not my usual choice given my competitive nature.
Generally, I enjoy simple to understand games which allow for multiple winners.

Special days

A certain feeling of excitement precedes special occasions.
With the fresh growth of spring comes Mother’s Day, graduations, festivals and outdoor events such as picnics, farmers markets and more.
These activities invite families and friends to interact.

Gardening

The other week, I discovered a small garden space next to our front door.
Gardening has shaped my life since I was a child with preparing the soil, planting the seeds, weeding the rows and harvesting the fresh vegetables.
Nothing comes close to the taste of homegrown food.

Tests

Tests are a part of life.
My husband Brad just completed his final exams for this semester as he pursues a medical degree through Greenville Technical College.
He spent hours pouring over his books in addition to working part-time.

Development

Driving around Greer last week, I took note of the beautiful lay of the land.
I started from the Greer Citizen office in downtown Greer and followed N. Main Street to E. Gap Creek Road.
As I drove, I observed horses pasturing by the roadside as well as houses surrounded by beautiful greenery.

He lives!

Easter is one of my favorite holidays.
Jesus’ resurrection is the one true hope in this life filled with trials, troubles and tribulations.
Attending a funeral this week provided a vivid reminder that death is an ever-present reality.

Rest

As spring dawns, activities are often on the rise.

In the midst of the flurry, rest is important to maintain strength, health and vitality for everything life brings.

This past weekend, Brad and I enjoyed some down time along with projects.

A new name

Kaelyn Cashman's picture

Now that I am married, I carry a new name.
Returning from the mountains, Brad and I visited the DMV to change our address and my last name.
I now have a new identity as Mrs. Kaelyn Cashman.
My primary authority on earth is now my husband, Brad Cashman; however, this event is not the first time I have received a new identity.
