Kaelyn's Korner

Solid ground

There are any number of misleading ideologies circulating our culture today from the highest levels of government to the smallest towns.

In this column, I would like to focus on our solid foundation.

As a believer, the standard by which I live is based on the foundational, unchanging Word of God.

We have a limited time on this earth filled with troubles, trials and tribulations.

Yet there is hope in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who died on a cross for all of the sins of those who seek Him in repentance.

One of my more recent favorite songs is “His Mercy is More” by Matt Papa.

God designed the family.

Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”

God created both male and female in His image.

As a result, every living person has value—from the tiniest baby in the womb to the oldest individual on earth.

Pray and vote

The leadership of a country impacts its citizens.

America is founded on the government being by the people, of the people, and for the people.

Therefore, we have a say in who governs us.

Labor Day

It’s nice to have an extra day away from work.

A church friend, who I hadn’t seen in a while due to COVID, asked if I wanted to come over for breakfast.

I agreed, and we enjoyed breakfast on her porch.

She made French toast, which we ate along with coffee and juice, while we took in the cooler morning air.

Genuine love

Love has often been hijacked to fit the definition of whoever is using the term.

Yet Scripture gives us some clear depictions of how genuine love looks, sounds and exhibits itself as well as what it is not.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 tells how love is patient and kind.

Beach trip

I love the beach.

The wind and waves are so relaxing and rejuvenating.

Brad and I drove down to the coast for a week away at a resort with an indoor pool, jacuzzi and boardwalk down to the beach.

We arrived late in the afternoon and settled into the place.

We need to bring back discipline, personal responsibility and accountability.

Most of us do not like to think about the consequences or results of our actions, especially when we have done something wrong.

We need to return to the standards of right and wrong set forth in the Bible.

Babies are blessings.

A few in my circle are expecting baby boys this fall—two of them will be their parents’ first child while one is joining two older sisters.

Children are special gifts and refining challenges.

While Brad and I do not have our own, we have spent time around our families and friends who have kids.

Truth is under attack.

When people say “that’s your truth” or “this is my truth,” how can we have any objective conversation based on shared understandings?

Definitions are regularly changing, and conflicting reports are everywhere.
