Raised in the Tucapau textile mill community between Greer and Spartanburg, Homer Owens wanted to join the Navy along with his friends in response to Pearl Harbor.

Kathy Girouard, local regent of Greer’s Joyce Scott Chapter of the Daughter of the American Revolution, recently conducted a two-hour interview with Owens.
