The Greer High virtual enterprise program is back from the national competition in New York, celebrating the year’s achievements and looking towards the future.
The group was in New York March 31- April 4, where the students competed against others from all over the world and were judged by Fortune 500 executives.
The District Five Schools of Spartanburg board continues to move forward with plans for the new Byrnes High School.
At a recent meeting, the board got a look at all phases of the plans for the first time. The proposed plan comes with an estimated price tag of $56 million-$68 million.
The Greer Prince and Princess pageant was held Saturday morning on the Ryan’s Steakhouse Dick Ploof Community Stage during the Greer Family Fest. Winners as follows:

North Greenville University and the Greenville Health System are coming together to help combat a growing healthcare provider shortage.
The two organizations are launching a physician assistant training program, the first in the Upstate and second in the state.
Todd Varholy is hoping to bring the first all-female team to the SkillsUSA state competition next year, as 13 more girls join the program, bringing the total to 19.
This would be unheard of, said the J. Harley Bonds Career Center teacher.
Todd Varholy wants people to know he wants to make the J. Harley Bonds Career Center the best welding training facility in South Carolina, “whatever it takes.”
“I think we’re number one but I want everyone to know what my mission statement is,” Varholy said. “We’re number one. There is no ranking, but I want it to be known.”
Ashlan Village will give its residents and the surrounding community an opportunity to travel back to a simpler time with its first Farm Day celebration.
The Bridwell family will travel to Washington, D.C. in late May for the Scripps National Spelling Bee, where Kalika will compete.
It is Kalika’s second time competing, but the seventh time the family has gone. Kalika’s older brother Zane competed when he was in eighth grade and her older sister Keiko competed fifth-eighth grade.
Machine tool students at the J. Harley Bonds have one more tool in their arsenal to help prepare them for the real world.
The newest addition at the career center is a Haas simulator for the program, which machine tool instructor Roy Morris won at a trade show.
“You put your name in a hat and they drew my name out,” he said.
