For the past two weeks, 13 girls from Greer Middle and High schools completed ropes course obstacles, solved a (mock) crime and attended the South Carolina Police Academy (YCPA) — all while learning physical and behavioral discipline, pride and respect.
Although the school year hasn’t yet begun, local area marching bands have already taken to the field to learn new routines. However, in addition to new choreography and music, Blue Ridge High School and Blue Ridge Middle School will be welcoming new band directors.

DEAR PAW’S CORNER: How can I adopt a war dog like the dog in the movie “Max?”
More than 800 roads crisscross the 22.82 square miles of Greer. They represent six-lane federally-managed roads, such as U.S. 29, state two-lanes roads, such as S.C. 80, and lighter-traveled neighborhood city streets.

The home of Kathy and Hank Merkle was selected for the July Residential Yard of the Month. Chick-fil-A of Greer received the Business Yard of the Month for July. Both selections were made by the Greer Garden Club Council.
