Spartanburg School District Five is planning to expand Abner Creek Elementary in the coming months, significantly increasing the school’s student capacity and square-footage by 2020.
Upon completion of the project, the 10-year-old elementary school will add more than 10,000 square feet and be able to hold more than 900 students.
Hobos Consignment Owner Ron Wilson is asking his customers for patience after a tree caused major damage to his Main Street property last month.
The tree was downed during a storm at the end of June. Following a week of being closed, the business reopened last Thursday.

Greer Community Ministries is collecting school supplies to give students for the upcoming year.

A proposed micro-school is causing concerns for local residents.
The Greer Board of Zoning Appeals will hold over a zoning request on matter until Aug. 6 after hearing from community members last week. Some concerns were centered around intersection traffic at Abner Creek and Liberty Hill Roads.
The Town of Lyman received an unmodified opinion with reasonable financial condition during a recent audit.
David G. Phillips, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with Greene Finney, presented the audit report to Lyman Town Council on Monday night.
“It is really the best opinion you can get,” Phillips said.
