As Hurricane Harvey blasted Texas over the weekend, gas prices across the country shot up.

At $2.37, Monday’s national gas price average is four cents more expensive, and one of the largest one-week national gas price surges seen this summer.

Eclipse draws thousands

An estimated 3,500 people visited Greer City Park to view the Great American Eclipse Monday afternoon.

Downtown Greer was darkened by a total solar eclipse, lasting nearly two minutes. The event was unlike any eclipse that has occurred in the last century.

Greer TD Club delays start

The Greer Touchdown Club is suspending the start of its regular meetings this fall.

The club, which normally runs for about 11 weeks during the high school football season, has suffered complications from “unforeseen circumstances” in recent weeks. The club is planning to begin meetings on Sept. 7, and run through the end of October.

Pups and Pints faces changes

A proposed restaurant and dog daycare, to be called Pups and Pints, is moving through the rezoning process with the City of Greer.
The Greer Planning Commission gave specific guidelines for the development Monday night, citing the location’s proximity to the Carman Glen subdivision.
