Residents who live near O’Neal Church Road expressed concerns regarding a proposed expansion for O’Neal Village at Monday night’s Planning Commission meeting.

The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce will host a Minority Business Summit from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday at Grace Hall, 108 Trade St.

The Minority Business Summit is a free one-day event featuring dynamic breakout sessions and speakers, networking, and new ideas specifically designed to help all businesses and organizations.

Following suit with several other Upstate cities, Duncan Council decided to allow residents to vote in November on whether or not to permit the sale of alcoholic liquors for on-premises consumption in Duncan, as well as Spartanburg County.

Shirley Clopton was the only councilmember to vote in opposition of the ordinance.

The annual SC.. Mountains to Midlands Komen Race for the Cure, a 5K run/walk designed to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer, will hold its 20th race in Greenville on Saturday, September 27.

The Blue Ridge Brewing Company will open its second location in downtown Greer at the former Cazbah, located at 308 Trade St., as soon as possible, according to owner Bob Hiller.

“We’re in the process of getting blessing right now, so I don’t have a date right now, but (we will open) as soon as possible,” Hiller said.

Jim Benson started his career at 17 years old, bringing used cars to Greer from Pennsylvania to sell. On a rainy Friday, Benson gave back to the community where he got his start, presenting the Greenville Tech Foundation with a large check.

A flash flood in Greer took a dangerous turn last Saturday night.

A significant portion of road on Memorial Drive Extension gave way during the downpour, leaving two vehicles trapped in a sinkhole.
