Greer Idol and Greer Idol Teen contestants took to the stage and belted out their best renditions of patriotic-themed songs in honor of veterans and current military personnel during Saturday’s Freedom Blast in downtown Greer. Although they were there to compete, the meaning behind the day did not escape the performers.

Checks for seniors
For National Safety month, the Greenville County Home Instead Senior Care office is offering free home safety checks for the county’s seniors through June.
Owners of Park Ridge Commons, an apartment complex off Memorial Drive Extension, are working toward expanding the complex. During the Planning Advisory meeting last week, a proposal for the addition of 10 units was reviewed by Greer’s Building and Development Standards staff.
