Greer STEP makes progress

The Greer Shelter to Empower People (STEP) has continued to progress slowly.

A home that formerly resided on the property has been demolished, trees have been cleared and the property has been leveled in preparation concrete in the next few weeks.

There’s still plenty to do, however, to make Greer’s homeless shelter a reality.

More than 1,300 local residents flocked to Century Park on Saturday to take part in the City of Greer’s annual Easter egg hunt.

Parks and Recreation Supervisor Justin Miller called the Eggtastic Easter Event a “huge success” despite cooler weather.

Council allocates CDBG funds

The City of Greer allocated $40,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to local organizations last week, making a few changes before the final reading.

Although the largest portion of funds was allocated to Greer Community Ministries (GCM), council voted to redirect a portion of the money elsewhere.
