Greer City Council approved a bid for $30,900 for a roofing project for the Operations Center during the Nov. 12 council meeting. The accepted bid was the lowest bid and was received from Trueline Inc. based in Charlotte, N.C.

of food, blankets
Greer Community Ministries is in need of blankets for Meals on Wheels clients. Blankets will be delivered with meals as part of the ministry’s 12 Days of Christmas program in December.
The Food Pantry needs beef stew, and Sharon’s Closet needs winter coats.
Incumbent Gene Gibson will continue serving on the Greer Commission of Public Works after being reelected in the Nov. 5 election. Gibson has been serving for 32 years.
The final numbers aren’t in yet, but Greer Community Ministries is hopeful for Big Thursday, which was Nov. 7.
The 9th annual Merle State Hunger Walk will be held on Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. at Memorial Methodist Church, located at 201 N. Main St. in Greer, to benefit the Greer Soup Kitchen.
Early in the afternoon Sunday, David Holtzclaw was a little worried. Just a few hours later, Holtzclaw discovered he had no reason to be. Along with his brother Kevin, the sons of the late Sylvia Holtzclaw put together another successful Syl Syl Toy Drive, which was held at the Clock.
