John Dean Williams, 67, of 3721 Hwy 414, Landrum, died Feb. 2, 2009 at Greer Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Malcolm and Eula Jackson Williams and the husband of Theresa Center Williams.

William "Bill" Louis Phillips, 78, of 2080 Gap Creek Road, Greer, died Feb. 2, 2009 at his home.

A native of Spartanburg County, son of the late William Dave and Lillie Mae Jackson Phillips, he was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a retired employee of Cryovac, a member of Tucapau Baptist Church and a Mason.

Mary Ruth Greenway Howard, 83, widow of Leroy Howard, died Feb. 2, 2009 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

A native of Baldwin, Ga., daughter of the late John and Martha Burrell Greenway, she was a homemaker and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Thomas Eugene Deal was born in Lenoir, N.C. On January 30, 2009, he went to be with Edgar.

He crossed over from complications of surgery performed on Jan. 13. He was a successful independent wallpaper hanger during the 1980's and 90's.
