Dora Lou Vaughn Black Reece, 89, of Greer, passed away Thursday, June 1, at Brushy Creek Rehab & Healthcare Center in Greer, where she resided since November, 2008.

Born in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Wyatt Herman and Carrie Christopher Vaughn. Dora Lou was married twice, first to the late Cecil H. Black (56 years) and then to the late Raymon R. Reece (5 years).

Dora Lou was employed at Lyman Printing and Finishing Company and retired from Tom Duncan Pontiac in Greer. She was a life-long member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she was the church clerk and a member of the flower committee for many years. She was also a past member of the Greer Rose Club, where she enjoyed fellowship with other rose growers.

Her family include: daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Jim Henderson of Greer; grandchildren: Wyatt Henderson (Stacy) of Greer and Wendy Lou H. Rothermel (Kevin) of Simpsonville, and great-grandchildren: Emily Henderson of Boston, Mass., and Chase and Cade Rothermel of Simpsonville.

She was predeceased by brothers, Arnold, Otis, Terril and Keith Vaughn and sister, Miriam V. Wood.

Graveside service were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1002 Buncombe Road, Greer. Visitation was held after the service.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Regina, Molly, Jasmine and Tyke and all the staff of Jasmine Cottage and the staff of Gentiva Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the charity of one’s choice.
