Dorothy (“Dot Dot”) Stack Lister Owens, age 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 7th in Spartanburg, SC. She was born in Inman, SC to Carl W. and Julia C Stack on November 15th, 1930.

“Dot Dot” was the model Southern lady full of grace, faith, hospitality and love. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and wife who blessed her family with her sweet and nurturing spirit and inspired with her strength and perseverance.

She was a beautiful person inside and out. A Greer High homecoming queen with many talents, she attended Furman University and majored in Music. She had an interesting and diverse career in healthcare, insurance and interior decor.

Dot served in the medical practice of Dr. Douglas Owens for thirty years, and while not clinically trained, she absolutely cared for and ministered to the patients of the practice as only she could do. She took interest in them as individuals and encouraged them as they healed.

She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Greer, serving through her teaching in the children’s ministry, singing in the adult choir and playing piano for the Baraca Sunday School class and Youth Choir. Her faith was her guide in both joyful and challenging times.

Dot was involved in her community and was a founding member of the Primrose Garden Club of Greer.

She lived a long, full life and was a blessing to so many. She will surely be missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Surviving are her husband, Don Owens; two daughters, Jeannie Lister Dobson (Alex) and Janet Lister Wilbanks (John); five grandchildren, Joni Dobson Nye (Bryan), John A. Dobson (Larkin), Matthew O Wilbanks (Jamie), Julie Wilbanks Henderson (Chris), and Ashley Wilbanks Jensen (Kyle); and thirteen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband Bill Lister, her brothers, Carl W. Stack, Jr. and Johnny Stack.

A private family service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Donations honoring Dot’s memory may be made to Greer Community Ministries (founded by her brother, Johnny) PO Box 1373, Greer, SC 29652 or to Eden Terrace of Spartanburg, 2780 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
