Garold Richard Farmer, 76, passed away January 30, 2023, at his home.

A native of Greenville County, a son of the late Jesse Runion and Mary Ruth Henson Farmer, he was a retired textile employee and member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, as well as brother, uncle and friend. In his younger years, he broke and shod horses and enjoyed horseback riding. Garold loved to coon hunt, fish, garden, cook for his family, and watch westerns.

Most importantly, Garold was a devoted Christian and lifelong member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church in Greer. He loved the Lord and was a faithful follower. His love for Christ shone in him in all his kind ways. He supported his family with prayers and encouraged them to always do what was right. Additionally, he loved to entertain his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with elaborate stories and they listened, in awe, to each detail.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Evangeline Wilson Farmer of the home; two daughters, Alice Prentice (James) of Greer and Julie Bull (Mickey) of Greer; one brother, Charles Farmer (Kay) of Greer; three grandchildren, Sam Prentice (Starr) of Greer, Jonathan Bull of Greer, and Dillon Bull of Campobello; and four great-grandchildren, Savannah Bull, Eva Prentice, Lawson Prentice, and Keagan Prentice, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was also predeceased by three brothers, Dean, Jack and Benny Farmer, and one sister, Irene Tooley.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2023, at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Joe Price and Rev. Ted Conwell. Burial will follow in Mount Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Sam Prentice, Jonathan Bull, Dillon Bull, Matthew Tooley, Austin Carter, and Matthew Wilson.

Visitation will be held 1-2:45 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2023, at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The family will be at the home of the daughter, Julie Bull.
