J. Delores Whittington

Jacqueline Delores Whittington, 90, wife of the late Jesse E. Whittington, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2023, surrounded by her girls.

A native of Columbia, SC, she then moved to Greer, SC where she lived for 63 years. She was a loving mother and avid gardener. Delores was the crossing guard at Crestview Elementary School for 16 years, and a member of DAR, Greer Citizen Police Academy Alumni, Order of the Eastern Star, First Presbyterian Church Greer, and attended Ebenezer Methodist Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Donna Hicks (Bob) of Taylors, SC, Deb Hindman (Jim) of Spartanburg, SC, Deloree Orr (Joe) of Taylors, SC, and Kitty Harris (Mark) of Berkley Lake, GA; one brother, Lamar Brown (Joan) of Irmo, SC; seven grandchildren, Jessica Hicks Lisenby, Jae Hicks Huff, Patrick Hindman, Deanna Hindman Ball, Casey Hindman, Katie Lindsey Benton, and Jordan Harris; nine great-grandchildren; and her companion of 20 years, Bill Brown of Greer, SC.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church Greer.

Visitation will be held immediately after the service at the church.
