Mrs. Jessie Cleveland Paget Lamb, 89, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017.

The funeral service was conducted Tuesday July 18 at 2:30 p.m. at Oakmont Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Beth Thompson.  The family received friends at 1 p.m. at the church prior to the service.  Burial followed the service in Pinewood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Lamb, a native of Greer, was daughter of the late James Suddath and Ruth Cunningham Paget.  She received a bachelor’s degree from Furman University. She taught in the Greenville City Schools, mainly as a substitute teacher.

She made her home in Greenville in 1965, where she was active in the school system and the community while raising her family.  She was a member of Oakmont Baptist Church where she served in many roles including Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member and as a Deacon.

All of her life, Jessie Lamb focused on caring for others by dedicating herself to supporting numerous causes and always looking to lend a hand to others in need.  Her compassion and determination were driving forces that bettered the lives of many people within the community.  In her final weeks on this earth, as her health was failing, she was asked what she liked. 

Her answer was: “making people happy.”

For the past four years she had made her home in Wilmington, North Carolina to be near family.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Lamb was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert Charles Lamb and brother, James Suddath Paget, Jr.

She is survived by: sons, Robert Charles Lamb, Jr. and wife, Darlene, of Yakima, Washington and James M. “Jimmy” Lamb and wife, Kaye, of Wilmington, North Carolina; grandchildren, Jessica Paige Lamb of Seattle, Washington, Robert Charles Lamb, III of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Alexandra Caitlyn Lamb of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jonathan Morgan Lamb of Wilmington, North Carolina, Ashley Victoria Lamb of Wilmington, North Carolina, Emily Katherine Lamb of Wilmington, North Carolina; brothers, John Paget and wife, Patsy, of Gainesville, Georgia, and Ben Paget and wife, Nancee, of Lexington.

Memorials may be made to Oakmont Baptist Church, 1100 Red Banks Road, Greenville, NC 27858.
