June B. Prince

June Lane Barnette Prince, 79, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Friday, February 10, 2023.

Born in Greer on April 23, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Junie Etta “Bill” Owens Barnette. June retired after 18 years of service with the Fairview Baptist Church Weekday Education Ministry. She was a finely skilled seamstress and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, belonging to the Jeanette Hood Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Prince is survived by her husband of 62 years, James E. “Bud” Prince of the home; two sons, James Craig Prince (Michelle) of Taylors and Christopher Scott Prince (Lisa) of Greer; two granddaughters, Katelyn P. Gilliland (Nick) of Hendersonville, NC and Abigail A. Prince of Tigerville; her unborn great-grandson, Nicholas Clint Gilliland; one brother, Donald L. Barnette (Pam) of Greer; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Truman E. Barnette, Martha B. Dacus, and Joe E. Barnette.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Hillcrest Memory Gardens, conducted by Rev. Rick Schubert.

Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2023, at The Wood Mortuary.

The family is at home.
