Lois Turner Blackwell
Lois Turner Blackwell, 95, a resident of St. Martin’s in the Pines, Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on May 29, 2021.
Lois was born and raised in Enid, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Frank L. Turner and the late Garda Muns Turner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Earl Blackwell, and her brothers, Frank L. Turner Jr. and Eldon Muns Turner.
Lois found great joy in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters June Mays (Joe) of Birmingham, Alabama, Jeannine Blackwell (Michael Jones) of Lexington, Kentucky, and Judith Anne Goodwin (Greg), of Augusta, Georgia; by her four grandchildren Mary Elizabeth Mays, Elizabeth Upchurch, McNeill Upchurch III (Kasi), and Bettina Jones (Filip Stojkovski); by great-grandsons McNeill Upchurch IV (Mac) and Mason Upchurch; nieces and nephews.
Lois was a member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church. She lived in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, most of her adult life and taught school there for many years. Students from Duncan Elementary and James F. Byrnes High will remember her fondly. She received a B.A. degree from Furman University and an M.Ed. from Clemson University.
