Margaret Howard

Margaret Lee Hendrix Howard, 89, wife of the late James Dewey “J.D.” Howard, passed away October 30, 2023.

A native of Spartanburg County, daughter of the late Walter Lee and Rosie Bell Quinn Hendrix, she was a retired employee of Springs Industries, a volunteer for Greer Memorial Hospital where she received Volunteer of the Year, and a charter member of Southside Baptist Church where she was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. While she was able, Margaret was active in the church choir, a member of the nominating, budget and finance, and hospitality committees. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star for Bailey Masonic Lodge and a member of Daughters of the Nile.

Surviving are her son, Tim Howard of Greer; two grandchildren, Derek Howard and Amanda Howard; a granddaughter-in-law, Anna Howard; one sister, Iris Bateman (Bob) of Taylors; and a sister-in-law, Mary Harrison (Jack) of Inman.

Margaret was predeceased by one grandson, Erik Howard, a brother, James Garner, and two sisters, Annie Revels and Lucille Christopher.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2023, at The Wood Mortuary conducted by Rev. Keith Kelly. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Mike Sloan, Tim Sloan, Mark Sloan, Laz Molano, Alex Molano, and Yuleydi Molano.

Honorary escorts will be Jack and Mary Harrison and the volunteers from Greer Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be held 12:30-1:45 p.m. Thursday at The Wood Mortuary.

The family is at their respective homes.
