Marie Bates Neal

Mattie Marie Bates Neal, 49, passed away July 24, 2017 at her home.

A native of Greenville, daughter of the late Eugene and Mattie Campbell Bates, she was of the Freewill Baptist faith.

Surviving are her husband, Danny Lee Neal of the home; a daughter, Angela Marie Bates of Taylors; step-children, Anthony Lee Neal, Tabitha Jane Peebles, Crystal Michele Sellers and April Dawn Neal; brothers, Furman Bates, Charles Bates, Dan Bates, Mark Bates and Richard Bates; a sister, Martha Leopard; and fourteen grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Tony Neal and Gabriel Peebles.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2017 at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by Rev. Jammy Carson.  Burial followed in Wood Memorial Park.

Visitation was held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017 at The Wood Mortuary.
