Marilyn O. Burke

Marilyn Rhea O’Pell Burke, 79, widow of Howard Burke, passed away September 12, 2023.

A native of Catlettsburg, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Ray and Alta Maxine Fannin O’Pell, she was a retired social worker for the State of Kentucky; enjoyed reading, puzzles, cooking and attending church at Kavanaugh Methodist Church and later Beulah Baptist Church in Lumberton, North Carolina. Her loving heart and spirit will be missed by her family and friends.

Surviving are a daughter, Angela Kay Burke of Greer, South Carolina; a son, Wiley Ray Burke of Lumberton, North Carolina; a sister, Sandra Kay Kelly of Ironton, Ohio; and her beloved dog Zoe.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, September 14, 2023, at The Wood Mortuary Chapel.

Visitation will be held 9:45-10:45 a.m. Thursday, September 14, 2023, at The Wood Mortuary.
