Marlene B. Edwards

Marlene Burrell Edwards, 84, wife of the late James Allen Edwards, Jr., passed away July 27, 2023.

A native of Greer, daughter of the late Edwin Carl and Luna Lillian Smith Burrell, she was a retired employee of Greenville-Spartanburg Airport Commission, a long-time employee of J.P. Stevens & Co., and a volunteer at Greer Memorial Hospital. She was a member and Sunday School teacher of Victor Baptist Church and served as past director of children’s and youth choirs.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Jess Hall of Piedmont and Jamie and Jeff Templeton of Simpsonville; a son-in-law, Jeff Gooding of Taylors; a brother, Carl Burrell, Jr. of Greenwood; a sister and brother-in-law, Lynn and Ken Bridges of Florida; five grandchildren, Jenna Hodge and Jensen Hall, Jaden Templeton, Kaben and Micha Gooding; and two great-grandchildren, Eliyana and Araya Hodge.

She was predeceased by one daughter, Anjanette Gooding.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Victor Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Tom Capps. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.

Visitation was held 12:45-1:45 p.m. Sunday at the church.

The family is at their respective homes.
