Randall George “Bill” Clayton, previously of Farms Bridge Road, passed away Friday, August 26, 2022, at Manning Place Assisted Living.

Randall was born in Inman, South Carolina on December 28, 1934. He was the son of the late Randal Ervin and Fannie Belcher Clayton. Randall had a career in Aerospace Defense engineering, working on contracts that ranged from tracking Sputnik to Phalanx gun system, and missile systems such as Red-Eye and Tomahawk. He enjoyed water-skiing, flying as a private-pilot, and time with his friends. After retiring, he returned “home” to South Carolina. He attended Holly Springs Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son, Philip Clayton (Mary-Barbara) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; daughters, Myra Leone (Joe) of San Jose, California and Patricia Blackwell (Randy) of Taylors; grandchildren, Nickolas Clayton, Zebadiah Blackwell (Megan), Jordan Blackwell, Savannah Leone, Jacob Clayton, Shelby Leone, and Nathaniel Clayton; and great-grandson, Kingston Blackwell.

Randall was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Joyce Stanford Clayton, and three sisters, Margie, Sarah, and Rose.

The family will receive friends 10-11:15 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Holly Springs Baptist Church, 251 Hannon Rd., Inman, South Carolina 29349.

A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Dr. Tim Clark officiating.

The family is at the home of his daughter, Patricia Blackwell (Randy).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holly Springs Baptist Church, 251 Hannon Rd., Inman, South Carolina 29349.
