Robbie Welborn Badger, 92, entered into the glorious presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 10, 2022. “And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him and he is in God. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. 1 John 4:14-16”. Robbie has known and believed the love that God hath to us.

Robbie is survived by her loving husband, companion and absolute best friend since high school, Hugh L. Badger, Sr of Taylors. A native of Greenville, Robbie was the daughter of the late John Daniel and Louise Davis Welborn.

After graduating from Taylors High School, Robbie married her high school sweetheart, Hugh, and instead of pursuing college to study English, she felt her high calling was to build a home and raise a family with Hugh.  She was a devoted wife and mother who filled her home with much love and covered her family members with prayer down through her great grandchildren. Robbie lived an unwavering faith; and despite the last few years of debilitating physical pain and disabilities, and right through her last prayer uttered aloud, she always thanked God, for the “sunshine and the shadows in her life”.

Robbie was blessed with a beautiful singing voice, and through their early years, she and Hugh sang many duets together in church and for special occasions. Celebrating 74 years of marriage with Hugh, Robbie is also survived by their children, Kathy Wright (John) of Greenville, Larry Badger (Kala) of Taylors, and Beth Felkel (Rob) of Taylors; four grandchildren, Bradley Wright (Kathy) of Greer, Melanie Horvat (Jason) of Rock Hill, Zachary Badger (Hannah) and Luke Badger, of Greenville; as well as, six great grandchildren, Callyn and Emery Wright, Kaitlyn and Taylor Horvat, Jackson and Marshall Badger.

Robbie, the oldest of six, was predeceased by two brothers, Dan Welborn and David Welborn; two sisters, Helen Fleming and Doris Pearce.  Her last surviving sister, Mary Lee Barnwell, followed Robbie in death on February 11, 2022.

Over the years, Robbie was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church and Taylors First Baptist Church. In more recent years, she and Hugh remained members at Earle Street Baptist Church. Although Robbie experienced many years of bad health and ultimately confined to their home, she supported her church family with her faithful prayers.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Providence Health Care team (Katie, Adrionna, Loretta and Matthew) for their compassion and care the last few years.  A special thanks to caregivers, Tara DeStefani and Lynda Chapman who also became good friends to Robbie.  Deepest appreciation to Earle Street and Taylors First Baptist for their faithful mercy team ministry. All of the above are amazing, caring and wonderful people that gave so freely in Robbie’s time of need.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 12:00 PM in the Chapel at  Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville SC 29609 followed by a private family committal.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Earle Street Baptist Church, 225 West Earle Street, Greenville SC  29609, Brown Family Ministries, PO Box 638, Travelers Rest, SC 29690 or Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) 4 West Main St, Taylors, SC 29687.
