Robert “Bob” Elder

Robert “Bob” Elder, age 91, of Brookhaven, GA, formerly of Greer, SC, peacefully entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Thursday, September 9, 2021 surrounded by his loving children.

Graveside services for Bob will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Mountain View Cemetery in Greer, SC.

Bob was born December 30, 1929 in Greer, SC, to the late George Dewey Elder, Sr. and the late Cynthia Charity Brown; also preceding Bob in death was his beloved wife of 63 years, Betty Joyce Holloway Elder; brothers, George Dewey Elder Jr., Donald Elder; and sister, Audrey Ross.

Bob and his wife Betty were faithful members of Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Taylors, SC. Bob was a proud Veteran of the United States Army and played on the All Army Baseball Team. For most of his professional career, Bob drove a bus for Greyhound and he later drove charter trips for Good News following his retirement from Greyhound. He received his Associates degree from North Greenville College where he played basketball and baseball. After retirement, Bob continued to enjoy traveling, and participating or watching sports.

Bob is survived by his loving daughters, Teresa Brett and husband David, Sheila Ray and husband Mark, and Angela Perry; beloved grandchildren, Jeremy Brett and wife Kalee, Chris Brett and wife Keely, Michael Ray, Daniel Ray, Joshua Perry and Noah Perry; cherished great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Harper, Maverick, Everly and Piper.
