Tyler Collins is an engineer paramedic at Greer Fire Department, but that wasn’t always his plan. In fact, he’s from Alabama, but moved to the Greer area once he got married. Now with a wife and three daughters, he balances his family life with working to keep the Greer community safe.

Firefighter Luke Green helped carry toys during the Duncan Fire Department’s toy drive for the Middle Tyger Community Center on Friday at Route 290. The gifts will provide Christmas for eight children sponsored by MTCC this year.

Service Spotlight

Ben Ford, Chief of Police at Travelers Rest Police Department, has lived in the area for 24 years, where his children now go to school and he and his wife work full-time. He likes to say that he and his family are grounded in the place they love most.
 

Chili challenge

Wellford Rescue 13 and Duncan Car 113 participated in the first Breaking Bread For Jesus Car Show/Chili Cook Off last Saturday. There were two blind taste tests conducted for six chili entries. Duncan Station 13 placed 1st in one tasting, and Wellford Station 81 placed 2nd and 3rd in both tastings.

Service Spotlight

Starting in 2008, David Green began working his way up to becoming Chief of Police, starting as a reserve officer, and eventually becoming Chief in 2017. A graduate of Travelers Rest High School and Greenville and Spartanburg colleges, he set out to start making a difference in the community.
