The South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation’s South Carolina Fire Academy graduated 16 recruits from its eight-week firefighter candidate school in Columbia recently. Area graduates included Boiling Springs Fire District’s Ezequiel Ramon and Zachary Chapman, and Pelham-Batesville Fire Department’s Logan Coley.

On March 9, South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) closed Camp Creek Road in Taylors for culvert repair.
Camp Creek Road is between Highway 101 and Mountain View Road. SCDOT has not provided a completion date on the roadwork.
The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office has announced a new pilot program to aid school personnel in monitoring and helping children who have been involved in a traumatic incident.
On the morning of Wednesday, March 8, the Greer Police Department (GPD) received information about a possible threat of an active shooter at Greer Middle School. Officers immediately investigated the validity of the threat.
The threat stemmed from a social media post made by a third party about a verbal statement they heard.
On Tuesday, Feb. 28, Greer Fire Department responded to a fire near downtown across from the Center for the Arts. According to Battalion Chief Carl McConnel with GFD, a backyard shed caught fire on Davis Avenue in Greer, resulting in a total loss of the structure.
