Coroner identifies woman

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office has identified a woman who was found in a home following a residential fire last Monday.

Stevie Efstration Klein, 73, of Taylors, passed away on Monday, Feb. 27, at her home.

Area man receives 40 years

A Spartanburg man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for Murder as well as a 10 year prison sentence for Breach of Peace of a High and Aggravated Nature and a five year prison sentence for Possession of a Weapon During Commission of a Violent Crime to both run concurrently with each other and the 40 year Murder sentence.

Steven Carpenter has been in the fire service for 20 years, and he finds his purpose by helping his community members. Going from a large department to a smaller one in Greer, he said, was exactly what he wanted. He is now lieutenant.

Robbery reported

Around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8, Greer Police Department was dispatched to a report of a robbery in the parking lot of Bradford Apartments.

Captain Patrick Fortenberry said the victims were located, and the suspects had fled the area during the incident. He said detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
