The South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Association (SCLEOA) held its annual awards ceremony Dec. 8-10 in Myrtle Beach, giving away the crime prevention award, the officer of the year award, the citizen of the year award and the excellence in law enforcement award.

One dead in TR fire

Around 7 a.m. on December 18, the North Greenville Fire Department was dispatched to the 5600 block of Locust Hill Road in Travelers Rest, where they found one man dead.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office reported that Leon McDaniel, 76, died from smoke inhalation and thermal burns.

Lieutenant John Dalton Hall Jr. of Simpsonville is an Emergency Medical Technician at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport. While he adores his job today, it wasn’t the fire trucks that caught his attention as a teenager. It was something far more subtle.

Wellford officers earn awards

Two Wellford Police Department officers have been honored with the Life Saver award following their resolution of a 2022 domestic violence incident.

Last June, Officer Jacob Crow and Sergeant Phil Torrey got a call regarding a boyfriend refusing to leave his girlfriend’s home. The two officers arrived on scene shortly thereafter.
