Thirty-four years ago, Dr. Alastair Walker was on a mission trip to Calcutta when he began to really notice the plight of hundreds of children who were quite literally starving to death.
Determined to do something about it, Walker returned home to the United States to find out what he could do.
Apalache Baptist ‘Golden Hearts’ Events
The annual senior Thanksgiving supper will take place on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11, at 6 p.m. Kayla Rittenberg, member of ABC, will entertain the group with a musical program.

Fairview Fall Festival

Revival continues
at Calvary Hill
A revival will be held at Calvary Hill Baptist Church, located at 100 Calvary Hill Church Dr., Lyman, runs through Thursday. Services will begin at 7 p.m. Call 968-0493.
For almost two decades, Ebenezer Welcome Baptist Church has been sending people into the women’s prison in Columbia, ministering to those who are only there for a short time as they wait to be sent to another prison to fulfill sentencing.
From the numbers, it looks as if this ministry is truly impacting a number of inmates.
Lee Road hosts church bazaar Saturday
Lee Road United Methodist Church, located at 1377 E. Lee Road in Taylors, will hold a bazaar on Saturday Oct. 18, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Handmade crafts, canned goods, baked goods, used books, jewelry and vendors with various items will be available.
Bob Jones University President Steve Pettit recently named Dr. Sam Horn vice president for ministerial advancement, effective in January of 2015.
Horn will also serve as dean of the seminary and school of religion at the end of the current academic year in May.
Prison ministry
to lead service
The Good Samaritans prison ministry will lead service at Ebenezer Welcome Baptist Church at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12.
Ministry volunteers will share testimonies.
