Early into Riverside’s 2023 campaign, the Warriors seem to have found a fairly simple formula for success: when the going gets tough, get Mikkel Skinner going.
Clay Black is a 5-foot-10, 155-pound strong safety/free safety for the Riverside Warriors. Warriors head coach Matt Rochester credits Black as one of his standouts and leaders on the defensive side of the ball.

Liberty took on Eastside Friday in a JV matchup. Liberty started off the season last week with a 20-8 win over Blue Ridge, while Eastside was coming off a 34-14 loss against Pendleton. Overall, Liberty had a massive size advantage and that proved to be too much for the Eagles to overcome.
Riverside’s defense was overwhelmed by J.L. Mann’s high-flying offensive attack on Friday night at Mann’s Slaton Field, as the Patriots outlasted the Warriors, 42-14.
Another week, another costly first frame. Blue Ridge fell into a 20-0 hole during the first quarter of the Tigers’ home opener against Liberty and couldn’t recover, ultimately falling 41-19.
Something has to give Friday night when Greer and Blue Ridge will clash in a battle of 0-2 teams at Death Valley North.
“This is a big rivalry game, and both teams really need a win. But I feel like we need one the most,” claims Greer Coach Will Young.
After Byrnes quarterback Andrew Stevens’ final pass of the game sailed into the waiting arms of a Chapman defensive back, the home stands at Chapman went into a frenzy. The Chapman sidelines went even crazier.
The interception sealed a 17-14 win for Chapman over Byrnes, the first victory for the Panthers against the Rebels since 1966.
