Twenty teams from across the nation decended upon Duncan last Friday and Saturday to participate in the Palmetto State Showdown. Byrnes had three teams in the competition. The Rebels’ A team advanced to the semifinals of the tournament, falling to Woodruff. Boiling Springs claimed the title, going 9-1 as the No. 1 seed. Byrnes was led by sophomore quarterback Brock Carroll and standout wide receiver Demarcus Gregory.

In a race that saw many of the usual suspects go into hiding in the closing laps, Matt Kenseth battled to the front of the field from the 18th starting position and pulled away after a late restart to win Sunday’s New Hampshire 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
