Eastside made its cross-town rival pay for a slow start, topping the Warriors 73-48 on Monday night.
After earning a quick 15-1 advantage in the first quarter, the Lady Eagles carried a 42-21 lead into halftime, making a comeback all but impossible for Riverside.
The North Greenville men’s basketball team shot 52.6 percent from the floor, holding Truett McConnell College to just 39 percent in an 85-61 victory over the Bears last Saturday night.
Truett McConnell jumped out to an early 6-2 lead in the opening minutes of play before the North Greenville offense was able to get on track.

A veteran starting five has been leading the way early for the Riverside boys’ basketball team, which has stormed out to 5-2 start.
With a group full of seniors, Riverside coach Greg Miller said there should be no lack of leadership this season for the Warriors.

Despite losing some key seniors on both sides of the ball, the Rebels will return a core group of starters, adding to an already successful incoming class.

The host team, which is coming off another state title, will offer a much different look.
Coming off a deep playoff run last season, the Byrnes basketball team is looking for even more success on the hardwood this winter.
“I like our team,” head coach Layne Fowler said. “We went 2-1 in our preseason tournament last week and only one of those kids had ever played varsity basketball, so it was good experience for them.”
It’s a new year for a Riverside team that failed to make the postseason last year, and head coach Jenny Taylor said her squad has improved dramatically.
