Crusaders named NCCAA All-Americans

Four North Greenville football players have earned NCCAA All-American honors after successful individual seasons on the field in 2013.

Senior wide receiver Freddie Martino was named first team NCCAA All-American after setting a NCAA Division II record for receptions in a season with 146 catches for 1,680 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Corey Struss will be North Greenville’s first mens’ lacrosse coach, leaving Ohio Valley University to join the Crusaders’ new program.

North Greenville added mens’ lacrosse to the varsity sports lineup in June.

Local high school football standouts were selected to all-region teams last week, putting the finishing touches on what was a successful season for several teams.

Blue Ridge coach Shane Clark said the honor is something not many players accomplish during their high school careers.
