I wasn’t going to write about Richard Sherman.

I didn’t think he deserved all the attention he attracted after his postgame rant in the NFC Championship. In my opinion, he said what most every passionate and competitive athlete would say if you stick a microphone in their face right after a huge win.

Greer defeated Southside 65-55 before struggling against Greenville on the road Friday in a 63-49 loss.

Blue Ridge has been hot as of late, and senior Reggie Stoddard caught fire against Pickens and Eastside last week.

Stoddard scored 31 points against the Blue Flame and 19 against the Eagles in back-to-back wins, earning The Greer Citizen’s and Clock Restaurant/Clock Express’ Player of the Week award.

The fourth annual “A Hero’s 5K Run & Walk” will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. The opening ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Timmons Arena, and a “Kids Fun Run” begins just after the 5K shotgun start.
